I think I mentioned several times that Catalina has a quite developed princess side to her (a.k.a painted nails and lipstick on her lips every morning). I think it runs in the family, I don't know where from, but Silvia, Catalina's only girl cousin, has plenty to teach my baby girl in this department. Silvia is the ultimate princess. She wears only pink and purple, there is never enough lipstick on her lips and never enough colors on her nails. She loves beads and glitter. She loves puffy dresses and princess castles. Silvia turned 5 not long ago and, like any princess had two parties. A dance party and a "Tangled" party. Can you guess the color of her dresses?
Just a hint in the pictures below...
I can't really decide if my amazing nephew is trying to poke the girl, to dance with her, or just solving a math problem by measuring the dance floor. Anything is possible with him, he's just too awesome!
I guess these two were the queen and the princess of the party. Oh yeah, good looking family :)
And what are birthday parties, if not a reason for parents to be creative. Yes, we are using our kids to satisfy our silly childish side. Way to go, Petro. Can you please decorate our house for all our parties also?
Evening dress #1 (and some yummy cake)
Evening dress #2
We all have to learn the princess business from Silvia. Way to go, sweetheart!
And, since we are talking princess here, a little glimpse at some pictures tati took of his little one. Once again, beauty runs in the family...

Some more fever, some more smiles
I mentioned in a previous post that 2012 did not have the most glamorous start for Catalina. It continues stubbornly the same way. After recovering from bad fever and cold symptoms she had 3 awesome days and we were ready to put behind all the bad memories. Until it hit her again. More fever, more snot, more cough and I will stop here before it gets too depressing. For a whole week she had fever, aches, stuffy nose, runny nose, some more pain, some more fever and then lots and lots of pain. How do I know about the pain? Well, this time the bug hit us all. Badly. I have to say, I have the best kid in the world. She tried to make it for mommy and daddy as smooth as possible, even though she was so sick.
But again, let's concentrate on the good parts. There are so many, it's just not worth picking the ugly when you have a ton of beauty. Fever means at least a day off with Catalina at home. I had three. While my boss might not like it, both Catalina and I enjoy our special time. This time it was doll time. Catalina has many (too many!) dolls, but until few days back she showed no interest in them, except to throw them in a corner of the room so they don't bother her. I guess the mommy inside her woke up these days, as she wants to feed them, dress them, bathe them. Here they are, having tea.
She decided to give one of the dolls "bebelus portocaliu" several dance lessons. I have to say, mommy got a little tired of hearing "I'm a Barbie doll in a Barbie world". Frankly, I cannot stand that song anymore, after hearing for hours and hours. Needless to say, bebelus portocaliu never learned to dance.
Can I just add that when she gave me this gorgeous smile she had a fever of 102F? This kid is too much!
In the end it was time for all the dolls in the house to take a nap. Can you guess my favorite doll in the picture below? ;)
Since she is a big girl now, she also decided that fever or no fever she needs to look her best. Yes, that is lipstick, some hair accessories and what not. And that thing around Cati's neck you might think is a simple rubber band. Nope...I was assured it is a priceless necklace.
We also played a little detective. Our disguise was as cute little kitties. Mommy had whiskers also, by the way. We were the cat detectives! (Funny enough, the TV was showing Ace Ventura, a pet detective...)
The lead detective took serious notes, while being sure we leave no trace behind. Gloves are essential in the detective work. Good thing mommy works in a lab and has access to, pretty much, unlimited supplies.
The end of the weekend came and brought only little relief from fever and pain. We are all going back to work/day care tomorrow. We are all hoping for healthier days. Till then, a little reminder of Catalina's spirit:
