I don't like Sharks!

This is what my daughter keeps telling me morning after morning. She really hates her new class, the Blue Sharks. She tells me over and over again that she wants to be a Dolphin, that Miss Laurie (her previous teacher in the Dolphin room) tells her she loves her and why can't she be a Dolphin again. I still have not gotten to the root of her hating the Shark room. But what I know is that every morning she stops at the door and she cries she doesn't want to go. After much convincing, she gets in, but she refuses to wash her hands by herself. For some reason this is a big No-NO in the Shark room and for 2 days now I had to play the embarrassed mom who cannot win battles with her daughter. For a week in a raw now I leave my daughter crying, telling her that I am upset with her. She is not allowed to watch TV now, because I thought it's a power struggle and she needs to know limits. But as I type this, I feel like the crappiest mom for leaving my kid in a room she hates, without hugging her and telling her I love her so very much.

And here she is, my bluest and cutest little shark, sliding on a blue slide

What else happened when not in daycare? Some play around the house, or in the house. Our downstairs neighbors have a son Catalina's age. The two are probably in love, they play and tease each other continuously. One evening they were both jumping on the bed, Catalina fell and got a bump on her head. Daddy was upset for days about it, but the bump did not damage their love :

Other than that, well, it's fall and all the farms around have activities for kids. I love it, it's absolutely wonderful to spend some time outside. We went to an orchard to pick our own apples and of course we picked some Halloween stuff as well.

Here she is, my sweet little girl playing with her scarecrows. She mentioned that she has a daddy one, a mommy one and a baby "paiata" (scarecrow in Romanian). She's all about family, my little one!

All the love for my little fish who does not want to swim with the big sharks!

This is happiness!

It was the best Labor Day weekend ever! Just to get an idea, previously, for Labor day we went on a Bahamas cruise, to Las Vegas and to Key West, florida. And I still say it, this Labor Day weekend in Lincoln Nebraska was the best!

Let's start by saying that I have not seen my sister for a year and a half. One of the main reasons I crossed the ocean to come to US was that I could not imagine seeing my sister only once a year (when she would come to visit Romania). And guess what, it's worse :). But this is life, it has a way of laughing in our faces.

Since Philadelphia and Lincoln are very poorly connected, we decided to fly to Kansas and drive the three hours. Once again, the joke was on us, as our flight was 3 hours delayed, after car rental and the drive we got to Petronela's house at 2am. Oh well, everybody was healthy, Catalina jumped in Petronela's arms immediately, so all a good start. And a good start it was!

The thing about midwest towns is that they are clean, everything is 5 minute driving distance and everything costs $5. First thing in the morning we all packed ourselves in the car and drove to the zoo. I was pleasantly surprised to see that all my nephews and my nice wanted to ride in our car (good revenge for my daughter's elation with my sister :).

And look at these two princesses, the cutest smiles around!

Yes, this is how crowded and how happy we were!

The zoo is always absolutely fantastic. It's small, people are nice and I am not scared that a car will bumped into Catalina, so I can relax. It was truly an awesome morning. I got to sit on a bench with my sister and talk about nothing. Yes, this is the perfect kind of life.

Waiting patiently for the train ride!

Next day was the BIG party. Peter turned 4 and we were ready to sing and dance and swim and what not! We had so much fun, that the pictures are sparse. But you can get a glimpse of the smiles that covered our faces.

Happy birthday, beautiful boy! May your cake be sweet and all your dreams come true!

And if you think that jumping, singing, swimming and eating were enough fun, well, were not. Once home, the kids wanted more outdoor fun.

These two kept my heart beating fast. Climbing up was scary, but when Peter threw himself on the fence to get down, I knew he's ready for Cirque Du Soleil or any olympic gymnastic team!.

Explanation of the picture below:
Mikil and Silvia are negotiating who's going to show off first his/her acrobatic talents
Peter is very upset he does not get to do smth (can't remember what) and tries to persuade us to give in
Catalina really tries to capture everything on her camera
Marius is losing hope that anyone will play soccer with him.
And I take the picture :)

However, the best part of the day was yet to come for my sister and I. We went out to a club, had margaritas, gossiped and danced till the club closed down. To make the evening perfect, few guys (drunk and probably under age, but who cares...) hit on us, two hot mommas!

This is becoming fast one of my favorite pictures of my sister and I. Because the smiles are real, and it just shows us how we are now: two mommy sisters who can't be together much, but when they do, they know how to party!

The end of our trip was slightly slower, Catalina was starting to get slightly sick and thus followed Petronela all around the house telling her: "Petronela, I don't feel well, give me some pills". And my sister, who has a medicine cabinet that puts any pharmacy to shame, gladly gave her vitamins and candy :).
Peter cooked us breakfast, and along with it gave me a good thorough lesson on how scrambled eggs should be cooked.

Last evening we went to a nice playground, played hide and seek and took some absolutely beautiful pictures.

And now, we have the memories and the pictures. Hoping for another photo opportunity ASAP! :)

Saying goodbye to toddler land

My cute little baby is a big girl now! She finished with the toddler classes and moved on to bigger, higher goals: preschool :)
Last day in the toddler Dolphin room had a birthday party going on. So, we said goodbye with a cake.

The next day, right before leaving for a short vacation at nana Petronela, we took a cake to Catalina's amazing teachers. We are sad to say goodbye, she had so much fun here. It was a hard transition from Catalina's other daycare to here, but she won the hearts of everybody and received all the love she gave back.

Today is the first day of pre school for her. A little sick, Catalina did not want to go to school. She did not want to be a Shark (this is the name of her preschool class). Teary and upset, she gave mommy a very small frowny smile:

Go get them, big girl! The world is at your feet, nobody will stand in your way.

My beautiful girl is not a baby anymore. Very hard to let go of all this time that passes way too fast!
