Summer

Amelia turned 2 months old. Where the summer flew, I have no idea. Gone is the fragile baby I brought home from the birth center, here is the chubby, cute little munchkin of Ami. With the baby stringer and the schedule a little more predictable we ventured for some short trips. First on the list:
the beach.
We started early in the morning so it's not too hot for Ami. We were on the beach before 9am after a close to 2 hr drive, so yes, we woke up early! Ami did not seem excited about our plans, but had a good nap on the way.

Things changed once we got there. We got a baby tent to put the baby in so she's not cooked/burnt by the sun. Ami protested as loud as she could. A lot of heat got trapped inside the tent, the small fan we had did nothing to keep her comfortable. So I took her out, sure that we'll have to leave in minutes.

Catalina on the other hand was on cloud nine. She started digging, running, collecting shells. She was so happy, I really felt guilty she stayed inside so much this summer.

So I decided to try some more. We opened the umbrella, and what do you know. Much much better than the tent. The breeze was wonderful, we were in the shade and the baby slept for a good part. She was not thrilled to be there, but she did not cry and looked around her with some curiosity. Enough to buy Catalina some more time to run and have fun in the sand.

Encouraged by our first outing, next day we went shopping and to Ami's first restaurant visit: Panera Bread. She had her own menu of breast milk and seemed quite content.
On my own terms, I decided I can be more brave as well, so I started taking the girls out more. We went to the free library, the yogurt shop, the nature center and even the pool for a longer stay!

Meanwhile, we are not cutting back on our fun inside. Please visit our hair salon, we can do miracles :)

The Statue of Liberty :)

And because this blog is also Ami's journal, let's talk a bit about her latest achievements. Ami is a strong little girl, she's holding her head very well, she's doing quite well with her back as well. She kicks her legs a storm and in the morning she wakes up mommy like this. Her eyes stay the most amazing blue and light up all the love in the world in my heart. Her skin is still like the softest velvet, almost impossibly fluffy and smooth to the touch. She's talking to us a lot now, she smiles and she's a VERY good baby. While her sleep patterns are still hectic, she barely cries. She doesn't have a favorite toy, but she argues with the bee and lizard from her rocker chair, the same way Catalina used to do it. She has many soft tones in her voice, but she also know how to get our attention with short, loud protests.
She turned 2 months old and before she'll be 3 month old she'll visit Washington DC and Ocean City Maryland. We're starting our regular trips and I could not be happier. Happy 2 months, baby!
