Bunica

I believe there is a tradition in my family for little girls to be very much in love with their bunica (grandma). I know for sure my grandma is my little oasis of peace. Her house, her face, her voice, everything brings a sense of calmness and joy I can't really explain. There is bond stronger than words.

I was wondering if Catalina will be as close to her bunica/bunice, especially since she sees them so rarely. No questions asked, Catalina is in deep deep love with her bunica. For the week she was visiting us, bunica did not have a second for herself. Catalina followed her constantly. EVERYWHERE. I did not take her to day care, so she can fully enjoy their special time together, and I am so happy I did that!

They went to endless walks (one time I actually thought they got lost in the neighborhood...). Bunica always patient with  Catalina, while she carried her backpack , stopped every two steps to admire one more leaf or a new piece of broken glass.

We went to the park, so Catalina can feed the ducks. This time, she didn't care about anything, but to show bunica all the wonders she was seeing. Some dried grass, some fallen branches. They played, and rested, and loved each other.

 Movie night with popcorn!

The day before bunica's return to Romania, we all took a trip to mommy's work place. Catalina loves it there because mommy has mice and a phone and a lot of gloves she can play with. Being a work day, I could not let her play with the mice, but she had all the access she wanted to gloves and computers :)

My institute has beautiful inner gardens and we took advantage of a gorgeous day. It was bitter sweet, as we knew it's our last time together for quite a while, but we made the best of it.

Bunica picked some fresh figs and we all enjoyed them. Not as yummy as the dried ones, but good anyway :)

And these last shots are just so so so lovely. Catalina loves her bunica and bunica loves Catalina. It's as simple as that.
