Election Day

Quite patriotic, right?

Well, this is the first year everybody in our household has an US passport. We are all American citizens, to be in line with our American born daughter.

Too late for us to vote this Election day, but Catalina's school was closed so we celebrated in a VERY nice way. By doing nothing, but having quiet, good fun. We started by playing games, went to the free library and then headed for the park. It was a wonderful day, almost like summer!

Catalina ran and ran and ran. Then she made up some more games about running. Then she played, got a small splinter in her finger and we rushed home so tend to the "big" wound. It was just what I needed. A relaxing day with my daughter, to enjoy her and admire her without the worry of returning to work, or rushing for an appointment. There is truly no happiness more pure and healthier than the one a child brings to one's life.

Halloween, 2015

Why yes, we are lately very excited about Halloween. Catalina can't wait to get dressed, she hears from school about all the events the other kids have planned, and this excitement rubs off on all of us.

It started with the Halloween parade at her school. She wore her last year costume, the cute fairy! She gathered so, so many compliments! She was stopped by adults to admire her fancy costume, while watching the parade we were told by people we never met how absolutely adorable she is. Duh...we know...we see her and marvel at her every day.

Once all the fun was done at school one of Catalina's classmates asked if she can come to our house to play.. All good for me, we had 3 happy girls playing in our house, while the two adults had time to catch up with whatever happened during the week. Did I mention October was an especially crazy, stress (good stress) filled month?

Once the girls left home we were ready to start our own Halloween preparations. Jack'o lantern, here you come! Mommy was incredibly tired and fell asleep on the couch, but never tired Catalina found and convinced daddy to participate in an elaborate pumpkin dissection.

Look what I've done, mommy!!

Catalina decided long ago she will be Merida for Halloween. This happened after we found a blue/green velvet dress that was very much to her liking. If you ask me, the dress looks more like Anna' dress (from Frozen), but Catalina hates Anna, so we all decided that the pretty dress and cape go very well with Merida. Thus, I braided Catalina 12 braids so she can have some volume in her hair and she was one happy Merida!

Dare I say I have a gorgeous princess?...

We went trick or treating in our old neighborhood and we collected lots of candy. My kids has an amazing sense of sense control, so after her basket was half full she looked and decided that she has more than enough candy. We had a nice, warm evening, and a happy and very excited girl. perfect recipe for a happy Halloween.

A fun, flying month

October passed like a dream. I don't know how and when, but looking at the pictures I have in my phone I can see we had quite a good time.
Theatre season started, so we enjoyed the first play this fall, "Shrek the musical". The play was not particularly good (or bad), but our visit in the city was amazing. A beautiful, sunny day with my darling holding my hand!

October is Halloween month so Catalina's school has a nice event, "make your own scare crow". parents and kids work side by side to make scarecrows that are then displayed in front of the school till Halloween. Catalina loves to be part of any school activity, so of course we went. She loved the event and was so, so proud of her scarecrow! She wanted to take pics with ALL the scarecrows, but hers held a soft soft in her heart, as she kept going back to it.

The Edu's fashionable scarecrow

Then, the fall festivals and farm visits happened one by one, filled with good spirit, but also creating a very full and restless month.

Harvest Festival in our neighborhood. Somehow it gets colder and colder with each year passing. Catalina found energy for little fun, but we were all soon frozen...

Balul Strugurilor, or the Grape party, romanian celebration of grapes (that will soon be wine...). Catalina had a fun night dancing with daddy quite a bit.

Somewhere in between we had time for play dates and trips to our park.

Apple picking right before Halloween!

I look at all this, and somehow I know we did it all, I just can't see how a whole month flew by and I ddi not have time to sit back and marvel at all that we do, at all that we have. Thanksgiving is just around the corner, so maybe I will take then a flying second to be so, so thankful for the lives that we have, filled with so much much bounty.
