A little artist in the house

One of Catalina's pictures from school was selected to be part of the Art Show from the school district. What can I say, I am PROUD!!! My little girl not only is stellar when it comes to academics, she's talented as well. I guess in American terms I should say she's "an all rounded accomplished student". But she's so much more. She's perfect!

A very big change

For once, the change is not directly related to the girls. It's about me. I'm changing my job. A job I had for 10 years...And now I'm leaving. My heart aches. It physically aches. I won't take my kids to work anymore. Only a week back we had a nice trip to my lab. Amelia loved it, she cried so much when we left. Here she is before she cried ❤️

I won't be able to go to all their little concerts and events. In the morning we'll rush not because we overslept, but because we can't wake up THAT early. And I won't be able to have a desk stuffed with my family's pictures, just because I won't have a desk (European open space concept)

I hope in time it will show to be a good choice. For now, my heart hurts. And I'll just look at my gorgeous little girls a little longer, so maybe I can suck up more of their awesomeness.

8 Years of Amazing

March 9, or the day my heart melts. Catalina turned 8 years old. She asked for no surprises, no party, just a quiet family celebration. It was hard for me not to have the whole world around involved, shouting Happy Birthday to the most awesome 8 year old EVER. But I respected her wishes. The night before I decorated the house, got some fancy cupcakes for breakfast and steadied myself so I don't cry.

I did not cry, but my heart still went mushy inside. It's hard not to, when you have a daughter like this:
Happy Birthday, my gorgeous, amazing girl!

Of course, everything Catalina gets needs to be done for Amelia as well 😍

Dinner was at Olive Garden, Catalina's favorite restaurant where waiters sing Happy Birthday if you ask them. They did for my Cati. We spent a long night watching TV. Saturday we went to a sushi restaurant and Cati finished all the Legos she got for her birthday. And of course, we worked hard to finish the cupcakes and some of the pretty cake. Quiet, pleasant fun. Just like my amazing 8 year old.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, awesome child!

Nini

Sometime in September 2011 I asked Catalina who am I. She said mommy. And my heart melted. Ami took what is seemed forever to learn that I am mommy, but she took even longer to learn who is Cati. For the longest time we were not sure if "ati" is from Cati or from tati. Well, Ami made up her mind. Catalina is "Nini". Ae don't know where this comes from, but everything related to Catalina is Nini. And we love it. Catalina loves it.

And guess what. Not much longer, and Nini turns 8. Once again, that time of year when my heart melts, when all the good memories come back. I am one lucky mom 😍
