Family reunion!

Well, you know how you see in parks big loud families having barbecues and the kids are screaming, and the burgers burn? Or in stores, restaurants, on the street, when you can't walk by because they take all the sidewalk and there is no space for anyone else, because one of them always stays behind and wants to talk to somebody else. I always hated those people, for the sole reason that I envied them, always wished to be part of their group.
This trip was my revenge I guess :).

It was also the first time I flew alone with Catalina. She was wonderful the whole time, despite flight delays, crowded airports and well, you'd never guess...clown visits in the airport!

Ok, it was not a real clown, just a Phillies parade that looked a lot like a circus. But boy, was my little one scared. She thinks that the clown took her pacifier and (I think) she believed that the clown came to her because she kept asking about the pacifier. Once the parade was over she went back to her usually sweet self.

Our stay in Nebraska was the best one yet. The kids are all older, the weather was amazing (hello, yummy dry heat). Catalina was delighted to see her bunica again. These two are like deeply in love!

We celebrated uncle Mikil's birthday on our first day there. A family friend came with her dog and Catalina had some fun. Short lived, as the dog was naughty and Catalina scares easily :)

While Catalina is not yet interested in playing with other kids yet, mommy had some great time with her cousins. I am sure it's hard raising 3 kids, but the fun never ends!

The really nice part of a smaller city (like Lincoln, Nebraska) is that everything is clean, close by and very kid friendly. We had a nice trip to the zoo (entrance fee in Lincoln: $5, entrance fee in Philadelphia: $16). I do hope we were envied by the people around, because we were an amazingly loud and funny group!

With bunica always shadowing our precious girl, mommy and daddy had few seconds for themselves. We are a lucky family, indeed!

After the really successful trip to the zoo (and, for one to truly understand how hard this is, one HAS to go out with 4 kids with strong personalities, like Catalina's cousins and herself). I was happy and I was planning to relax for the rest of the day. I guess miracle do happen, as the little ones had good afternoon naps and in the afternoon we headed to the water park. We had so much fun, that I did not even have time to snap a single picture! On the way home since everybody was hungry we stopped for sandwiches.
Waiting (impatiently) for dinner!

On our last morning in Lincoln we visited a nice garden. It was a little bitter sweet, knowing they were our last hours together, for who knows how many months. Between screaming kids (mostly Catalina this time...), terrible heat and beautiful flowers we managed to keep our spirits up.

We can't wait to meet again! Hopefully cousin Mikil comes to Philly with bunica for more summer fun together.

Jumping ahead in time...

Very proud of my precocious teenage daughter! And just for the record, I DO NOT agree with the "toddlers and tiaras" concept :)

Heat!

We have a hot summer in Philadelphia. Catalina is not a girl who likes to suffer in heat, so she soon learned to ask for air conditioning, more and more and more!
The logical thing to do was to get a small pool for her, so she can still enjoy outdoor fun. The pool, not such a hit. The hose to water the grass...instant success! She loves getting herself soaked and more importantly, getting everybody around her even worse.

Bunica (or grandma in Romania) shared some cute fun with us. More to come, hopefully!

Since we live an hour away from the ocean, we decided that we should make as many trips as possible. It's middle of July and we are at our first, but we don't lose hope. As long as we have fun, does it really matter where we have it?

At the shore, making soup out of sand...

At shore, getting angry when the water touches the feet...

Getting dirty in the sand in the park

Gardening...

Kisses for daddy for teaching me to ride the bike:

Shoe shopping...

Going to church and being the cutest girl!

And, this last part was not fun all the way. Catalina changed daycares. While we like the new one much better, separation anxiety was at its highest. Cute as flower, morning after morning Catalina got dressed and asked continuously: Where is Catalina going? Where is mommy going? Where is daddy?
And then, she would repeat over and over again to reassure herself: Mommy comes back. Yes, mommy always comes back. A little heart breaking...

We are getting ready for another trip, this time to see nana Petronela, uncle Mikil and cousins Mikil, Silvia and Peter. Bunica is at their house, so it's promising to be an amazing family reunion! Catalina and mommy fly with an earlier flight alone, so this will be our first airplane trip alone! Good luck to us and to the rest of the people in the aircraft. We are planning some major fun!
