On why camping makes for an awesome weekend!

Months back, before we knew we'll go on a luxurious  cruise for Labor Day weekend, we planned a camping trip for the weekend after Labor Day. At that time it seemed like a great adventure. However, weeks after, when we were still thinking of the blue waters of Bahamas the excitement was fading. The day before our departure weather.com announced heavy rain and thunderstorms. We were less than enthused on driving 3 hours to go on a beach that will soon be flooded. After much deciding and going back and forth we left ...

We reached the camp around 10:30 and I though putting up the tent in dark will be a horrible ordeal. The guys did a great job, the kids had fun, and the girls talked. Not a bad deal at all.

Mommy did what she knows best. Tell stories! Two kids in a tent, stories with bears, a magic glow in the dark wand , it sounds almost too good to be true, right?

Except that Catalina got scared by my story and for the rest of the night she kept telling me she is a nice girl so the bears should not come get her.

The night continued beautifully with chatting and drinking and sleeping for the little ones. What seemed to be a terrible weekend was starting to look quite well.
It was amazing waking up in the middle of nature. The fresh air, the sun, happy kids and later on some yummy food.

Prepared to leave at any moment of the storm picks up, we headed for the beach.

The first clouds started to to show up...

By the time we reached the camping site, the sun was up again

What it was promised to be a dangerous storm was a light rain. It did continue all through the night, making it even more adventurous and romantic. Not that romantic for daddy who had to re-inflate our bed and got soaked in the process :)

Morning after rain is amazing in the forest. The birds sing, the air is so fresh and you feel you have wings to fly. While the boys went to get breakfast, the girls and the kids went for a short walk.
The off to the beach again!

(not the greatest idea if not 4x4...)

Staying hydrated is essential for a successful day at beach.

We headed home late in the afternoon.

Morals of our story:
   1.never believe weather.com.
2.good spirit beats rain any day (even in a tent)
   3.Camping with kids ROCKS!!!!
