Starry sky

Camping is for me the best way to spend a weekend, or even better, a long weekend. Catalina loves it too, and few years back we found the perfect place to camp: spotless bathrooms, close to the beach (20 min walking!), beautiful, shaded camping spots. We planned on going for a long time, and with summer coming to an end we finally packed the tent and went on the road.

We set up the tent, and daddy told the girls they can go to the beach while the boys start the grill. That sounded perfectly to the girls, so off we went. Tired after a long drive, Catalina fell and got a minuscule scratch on her knee. Being the high maintenance princess that she is we had to turn back sooner than we anticipated. Not before we took evidence that we witnessed this.

Amazing sunset on the way back to our tent

We followed with an evening of grilled meat, beer, and smores. Lots of smores. When the bellies were full, we went in the tent for scary stories. And then we made plans to wake up for the sunrise and went to sleep.

Catalina stood true to her initial statement, she was a lazy cat and did not want to wake up. But mommy and the other mommy that was with us went for a long walk and they were rewarded with amazing views and that peace you can only get at the very early hours of the morning on an empty beach.

Back at the tent Catalina was waiting un patiently for mommy. She wanted breakfast and she wanted to go to the beach. ASAP!

No warm coffee for mommy meant there was no reason to linger by the camping site. Fruits, a sandwich, some cold instant coffee (yuck!) and we were on our way!

Freedom!

The sand wonderful, but the waves way to dangerous. Knowing there are more smores at the tent, we hurried up to find them :)

More grilling, more juice, more sugar. All got us tired and after an absolutely delightful afternoon nap we woke up for the last part of adventures in our trip. The girls enjoyed some crafting, while the adults enjoyed some "doing nothing" :)

Part of the evening program was a show where the girls presented their art. Curtains and all :)

We took an evening walk, it was getting dark, the girls were playing with their flashlights. Catalina was playing with mommy's phone and wanted a picture of them. We obliged :D

Next day we put the tent back in the car, rested a little and took a short trip to the Nature Center on the campground.

That's a whale's cranium!!
On our way back we stopped at Baltimore Aquarium. Catalina is absolutely, madly in love with everything that has to do with nature. We promised her for a while to take her to an aquarium (we have one close to home, that is VERY beautiful), but somehow we never got there. Since the Baltimore Aquarium is so famous, still close to home, and somehow on our way we stopped there for a short visit.

The aquarium is beautiful, but we were very very tired. Catalina enjoyed it slightly, but she was happy to go back to the car so we can drive home.

We'll probably return to this aquarium, but even for a first peak we were content. Only a week left till Catalina starts kindergarten at her new school. I can honestly say I am very very nervous about it! Till then, few more days of crazy camp :

Crazy hair day:

Halloween blast!
