We left the southern part not knowing what to expect in Denali. We saw so many beautiful places, we could not believe any experience can beat it. Not there is competition, but Denali had wonderful surprises for us.
It started with the hotel. Beautiful wooden cabin, modern, with wonderful balcony. Good start! Next day we went to the park for a few hikes. Nobody was excited but me. We did a short hike by a river bank, I loved it! The rest just tugged along.
Next day we went on a bus tour to see the rest of the park e where cars were not allowed. We saw lots of bears and caribou, but no moose. I was slightly disappointed. It was a very long day with very few chances to get off the bus.
Next day we went to Fairbanks. A waste of a good day, but we did have an interesting stop at a gold digging place where we tried our luck at finding gold. We’re not millionaires but the girls had fun. There was a lot of bickering that day, so it felt like a waste. In the evening though I did go with Ami on the river bank and she played with rocks. That day was also the day Cati got her period. I was heartbroken. My baby was not a baby anymore. It was too early, she still has so many more innocent years ahead. But these things a mom cannot control, you just have to go along with life.
Evening before last we took a ride in the park. It was sunny and beautiful and we got a great view of Mt. Denali. A great sight of a majestic mountain. Last day, just before we left we went for a short drive in the park once again. And, to wave us properly goodbye we saw lots Lots of moose, right next to us. What a sight!
It was an amazing vacation and I’m so happy we got to have it! After a year of no outings it felt like an escape from depression. Lots more to come for 2021!
